How do i register for a ged® test?
You must register 24 hours in advance for a GED® subject test. Students may register by phone or online while signed in to their GED.com account. You may find it easier to sign up online as you can see the available test dates and time on your computer screen.
When you register for a subject exam, you will be asked to provide the following information:
Clearing Alerts
If you cannot schedule a test, you will be notified of additional steps you need to take in your "Alerts." You will find your Alerts in the drop down on the upper left side of your MyGED™ dashboard. The "Alert" will be marked with an exclamation point. You must clear your alerts in order to schedule your next test. Please follow directions in the How to Clear Alerts document. (The Clear Alerts document has not been posted on smace.org, the attached copy is an example.)
Note: When you register for the Language Arts and the Mathematics exams, consider the fact that these two tests are 155 minutes, or 2 hours and 35 minutes long. All testing at the San Mateo Adult School ends at 9:00 p.m. So be sure to select an start time early enough to assure that you will have enough time to finish the test.

- Language in which you wish to take the test,
- Content Area (subject: Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies),
- Location ( This is the Testing Site. In most cases, if you are an Adult School student, San Mateo Adult School will be the default testing site),
- Date you wish to take the exam,
- Time you wish to take the exam (Students begin testing every 15 minutes allow for the check-in process, see Note below),
- Payment Method (You will be asked to pay with a credit or debit card. At this time, Vouchers only apply to GED Ready™ exams.).
- Agree to Testing Policies,
- Submit payment and confirm testing date and time.
